This isn’t a small policy update —
it’s a complete reset of India’s labour rules.
π° 1. Your Salary Will Change (The 50% Rule)
Your Basic Pay + DA must be at least 50% of CTC.
What this means:
β‘οΈ Your take-home may reduce (higher PF deduction)
β‘οΈ Your PF savings increase automatically
β‘οΈ Your gratuity amount goes up
β‘οΈ Companies must restructure salary slips
Short-term discomfort. Long-term financial gain.
β± 2. New Working Hours & Leave Rules
β 4-day work week is possible (not mandatory)
β But you must complete 48 hours per week → 12 hours/day
β Overtime = 2x pay after 8 hours/day
β Leave encashment every year
β Leave eligibility reduced from 240 → 180 days
π‘ 3. Big Boost in Job Security & Gratuity
β Fixed-term employees get gratuity after 1 year
β Same social security benefits as permanent staff
β Permanent employees follow the 5-year rule
This is a huge win for contract workers.
π₯ 4. New Rights for Women, Migrant & Gig Workers(Swiggy, Zomato, Uber):
β Recognised by law for the first time
β Eligible for social security, insurance, health benefits
Women employees:
β Can work night shifts (7 PM–6 AM) with safety provisions
β 26 weeks maternity leave continues
Migrant workers:
β Must receive a Journey Allowance once a year
πΌ 5. Faster Full & Final Settlement
Your F&F must be paid within 2 working days of your last day.
(Yes — no more 45–60 day delays.)
This reform changes how India works literally.
If your salary, shift, or contract feels different in the coming months. Now you know why?
